Robot Surgery: Get the Scoop at the International Robots & Vision Show

Robotic surgery has been a hot topic in the last few years, and some of the more interesting developments will be discussed at the Conference during the International Robots & Vision Show, June 12-14, 2007, in Rosemont (Chicago), Illinois (USA).

NASA and the military are exploring the use of surgical robots for space missions and combat zones, and SRI International, the company best known for the widely used da Vinci surgical robot system, is providing help. According to recent news, tests are underway to prove the capability of Trauma Pod, a system that gives doctors the ability to operate on a patient even if she’s on her way to Mars. Back on planet Earth, new robotic surgical procedures have been approved for knee surgery according to MAKO Surgical Corp., another technology leader highlighted at Conference. Now, doctors can use robotic technology for less invasive, more innovative solutions for knee repair. (Click here to see a video clip.)
